Support of CTDs and rural citizens for the reconstitution and preservation of the Malagasy road network

It is an initiative of Lalana, having received funding from Fanainga. The Action takes place in the Analamanga and Vakinankaratra Regions for 2 years, more precisely in the Communes of Mananjara, Anjanadoria, Ambato, Antsahafilo, Manjaka Avaradrano, Ambohimanjaka, Avaratsena, and Ambohipihaonana of the Ambohidratrimo District, and in the Communes Ambatomiady, Ambohitompoina, Belanitra, Antsahalava, Ambodiriana, Ambatolahy, Andranofito, and Soamanandrariny of Antanifotsy District.
The objective is to empower local leaders and citizens through local consultation, to find feasible solutions, particularly in the field of road maintenance, within the framework of this Action.
Therefore, it is necessary to set up, in the first place, the local consultation structure, and make it functional, so that citizens and leaders can develop their municipal road policy.
Secondly, it is a question of making an inventory of the existing roads, and of classifying them in order to be able to identify the municipal roads, which will be the subject of promulgation by municipal decree. Indeed, this formalization will make it possible to protect the roads from possible land problems.
And finally, it is a question of strengthening local capacities: training of Communes on Project Management, training of local roadmenders, establishment of the road maintenance structure, technical supervision of community road works, and staffing in materials and tools for road maintenance works.
In short, the work to be undertaken aims to make the CTDs capable of managing and maintaining their road networks, to alleviate the isolation of the local population.
